Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #57 — Taking A Break

A big thanks to Tina for this weeks theme — Taking A Break

When I left the Royal Navy, my wife and I decided a break was needed before getting down to the business of completely refurbishing our old house ourselves; so we decided to head to California. We had stayed before in Santa Monica, and various places along the Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) and Malibu and really enjoyed ourselves there.

We were lucky enough to rent a house for a month in Serra Canyon. Serra Canyon itself is very quiet and peaceful, ideal for an extended break. It is, however, only a short walk from Malibu Country Mart with plenty of coffee shops (a must) and various other small stores, and the added bonus of a Ralphs being just over the PCH and easy access to Malibu Pier and beach.

This was also my first trip with my newly purchased DSLR and Serra Canyon proved to be a treasure trove of photographic opportunities. These are just a small selection of the the resulting “click fest”.

  1. Outstanding photos. Great perspective pair through the chain link to the highway. Love the rental house and car. Tres’ cool!

  2. You chose a perfect spot Jez. We have good friends there and love to visit them. They did have some scary earthquake activity this year tho! Your images are terrific – thanks for joining us
