Fan Of… #16 — Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

Hi all ๐Ÿ˜ and welcome to today’s Fan Of… Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum sits towards the western end of Kelvingrove Park in the West End of Glasgow. It opened as the Palace of Fine Arts in 1901,ย and is built in a Spanish Baroque style, but follows the Glaswegian tradition of usingย red sandstone. It was reopened in 2006 after a three-year refurbishment and since then has become one of Scotland’s most popular visitor attractions. The museum has 22 galleries, housing a range of exhibits, including Renaissance art, taxidermy, and weapons and armour from various cultures. The centrepiece in the main hall is the large organ which was installed at the time of the building’s construction. There is also a Spitfire suspended from the ceiling ๐Ÿ˜ฒ.

The Gallery and Museum is well worth a visit, but to wholly appreciate it, you do need a couple of days ๐Ÿ˜

Have a great day ๐Ÿ˜
