A calm squirrel is a rarity in our garden. I think it may be because we are out in the open and they are aware there may be hawks above.
We have a hedge above the fence where one of the feeders is, and we cut it so that there is a tunnel for them to feel safe in. Also we are in town so there aren’t many predators for them to worry about, apart from the occasional cat.
If I recall rightly, she spent the whole afternoon like that–aside from grabbing some water, and the occasional nut from you. 😍
