Hi all 😁 For the last day of Squirreltober, I thought you might like to meet some of the skwurrels (Scots) that hang out at the Glasgow Botanic Gardens. These little guys are quite tame and will come right up to you for food.
Don’t forget to come back tomorrow for my new series — Animals in Scots (have you already met the grumphie?).
I'm a Royal Navy Veteran from Scotland and love to get out and about with my wife, susantbraithwaite.com, on our Kalkhoff e-bikes. My faithful camera, Snappy, and the ever-present Lensy (lensball) are always along for the ride to capture the beauty of Scotland 🏴. Join me as I share photos from our travels, how Lensy views the world & pretty much anything shiny ✨

Skwurrels – ha ha ha! Every time we go over to the US to visit my husband’s family they always get me to say ‘squirrel’ – being a Scot, I tend to say ‘skwurrel’ whereas with their deep southern drawl they tend to say ‘skwirl’ with a long-drawn-out vowel sound in the middle – it always cracks them up! 🙂
They’re friendly as far as any wild animal is friendly. Some of them get very used to humans being about, particularly if they can get food; but they are never really tame and you can’t handle them.
It sure has been fun. 😀

These are cute! But are they friendly creatures? Sorry I don’t know much about them, we don’t have them here in The land Downunder.

Oh, not as cuddly as an Aussie Koala 🐨 haha

I have so enjoyed the squirrels. Thanks for Squirreltober and I look forward to other Scots animals.
Thanks for following my posts, Anne 😁 There should be all manner of beasties in November.
