Hi all 😁 This is a 2fer; my entry for Xingfumama’s Pull Up a Seat Week 46 and Mind Over Memory’s Sculpture Saturday.
These seats/sculptures are all part of the Sculpture Park, within Bellahouston Park, Glasgow.
One Foot Taller
The seats in the form of jelly moulds are made from recycled rubber flooring, the type used in children’s playgrounds. “We have a simple broad aim to create objects of the present which say what they are, bring pleasure and are tough enough to last.” These seats were put in in 2000.
Orkney Basket Bench
This seat was designed by Trevor Leat/Alex Rigg in 1999. “We are drawing our ideas from the sense of security and intimacy that anyone found who crawled inside the heads… We are inviting people to climb into the interior (of the bench) and feel like they are entering a very personal space.”
These next seats, although not named specifically as sculptures, look like them to me.
Nice combination of two challenges 😀 I like the candy seats and the final bench although I’m not sure how you’re supposed to sit on it, it’s definitely sculptural.
These are great. Such creative ideas.
All great seats but the jelly like coloured seats are fantastic.

Not the most comfortable, but fun 😁
