Neewer 360° Tripod Head — Fan Of… #72

Hi all 😁 Feel free to join in this weekly challenge whenever you find yourself thinking “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how to).

This week’s Fan Of… is my new Neewer 360° Tripod Head Mount.

As good as Lenny, my maco lens is, you can’t beat a good stable platform for crisp, clear shots. So, over to the tripod; my only issue being that if I get it at the right angle in one plane, it’s often off in another. If I then correct that, I then have to readjust the first setting etc (my wife knows when I’m using the tripod without me telling her 😤 😂) I then saw a 360° head mount advertised & looked further into it. As usual, I checked to see if Neewer had a similar mount, & I went with their product. These are designed for the smooth movement of video cameras, & DSLRs shooting video. I find it very useful for still photography.

This bit of gadgetry screws onto the tripod top where the camera would normally sit.

The top screw plate shown above, comes off by loosening the spirit level knob on the side, and simply screws onto the camera base. It is so inobtrusive that you can easily unmount the camera at any time to shoot free hand.

Once the camera is fully secured onto the 360° head, you can point it in the general direction via the swivel base; tightened & loosened using the lower screw (back of the ball mount in the pic below).

Once generally set, the ball mount can be slackened off, allowing smooth 360° movement. Once in the correct position, the mount can be locked in place & you are ready to go.

The mount is very robust & capable of holding the camera steady at quite harsh angles.

…and finally, some pics taken whilst writing this post. The tiny scratches on the wood are courtesy of our skwurrel army 😃 Neither the wind nor the lighting were behaving today, but sometimes we just have to go with what we have.
