Tower Houses — Fan Of… #119

Hi all 😁 Feel free to join in this weekly challenge whenever you find yourself thinking “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how-to).

This week’s Fan Of… Tower Houses. The two featured today are the Clackmannan Tower & the Alloa Tower. In brief, Tower Houses are easily defensible dwellings built by the nobles as either part of a wider defensive plan, or as a home away from home.

  1. Those look like castles to me! I wonder what it would be like to live or stay in one. Have you ever? Fun post, Jez. Is this one of your challenges? I’m a fan of parks and museums.

    1. I’ve never stayed in one, which I think would be cool. This is part of my ongoing Fan Of… challenge. I haven’t forgotten the interview, Marsha; my wife & I had a bit of a Covid scare last week, so trying to get back to some semblance of normality 😊

      1. Did you have it, or a friend? Our neighbors got it last week. They should be out of quarantine tomorrow. They have been fever-free for about a week. We’ve been super lucky in our family, and have taken the vaccinations, or at least I have. So I don’t worry too much. Hope you are both doing well. No rush on the interview. I’m not on a deadline, but will enjoy it when it happens. 🙂

      2. The tests came back negative for both of us. We both had mild symptons, for me it was change in taste & smell & a high temp (2℃) above normal; Susan had a high temp & the startings of a cough. It took almost a week for the symptons to go. I’ve had both jags now, but Susan’s only had one, 20+ weeks ago; she had an allergic reaction to the first & is waiting to getting a different vaccine, & has to get it done at a specialist allergy centre with crash carts & adrenaline on hand in case she goes into anaphylactic shock; that’s on Friday, so hopefully all goes well 🤞

      3. Oh my gosh! I had to wait for an extra 15 minutes to make sure, but the only thing the second shot did for me or to me was to put me to sleep for about 24 hours. I was fine when I woke up. 🙂
