A Big Change in 2021 — Lens-Artists Challenge #180, Sunday Stills and CFFC.

Hi all 😃 My entry for this weeks challenge, set by Tina: Favourite images of 2021, Terri’s Sunday Stills & Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge.

These first shots are not just some of my favourites for 2021, but of all time. I enjoyed this session in particular because I arrived at Fannyside Lochs at sunrise & the conditions I found were as I expected. I felt I was able to get my eye in quickly, & of course, Lensy made an appearance.

…and so to the big change mentioned in the title; the arrival of our e-bikes. My wife (Susan) & I, have been car-free for nearly 10 years now & pre-covid would get around on public transport. Once covid came along, we decided public transport was a risk too far, so any travelling was done on foot. All this changed in May when our bikes, Stormy & Kali arrived & we were once again mobile. This photo & the new found sense of freedom that it represents, is our favourite of the year.

We live close to the Forth & Clyde Canal which runs from The Clyde to Grangemouth & the Union, running from The Falkirk Wheel to Edinburgh. We’ve been using the canal paths to get around & link with other cycle paths, that are numerous in Scotland. With back boxes & panniers, we can easily head out for an entire day, visit attractions & of course take lots of photos. We have trailer that we can tow, as well, to go shopping!

My two challenges, Fan Of… & Water Water Everywhere would certainly have been a lot more challenging (pardon the pun 🤣)! The following gallery are all shots that would not have been possible without our bikes 😃

  1. I don’t have a lens ball, but your photos are so beautiful, I have to get one! Lovely collection, Jez. Enjoy your new bikes and greater mobility.

  2. Those e-bikes sure look like fun. And you two don’t have to work so hard. Wonderful photos for these challenges. I love to see you still like your magic ball. 😀

  3. Jez, Jez…how I love your gallery – wonderful! And you make excellent use of your lensy – always. I must say I am impressed by your own “horses” and the way you use them too. The Kelpies are such great favourites with me – beautifully captured of course! Lensy in the Falkirk wheel – marvelous. I so regret we didn’t get to see the Kelpies night time too. Do you have photos of them lit up? I’d love to see them too!

  4. What a beautiful photo series, Jez! Thank you for sharing your bike trips. Love these sunlight images. Those bird captures are fantastic!

  5. What a “mobile” 2021 you had, Jez! I am heartened when I read of bike paths and ease of access (Never the case in the states) in folks’ communities. That huge kelpie in the shots is so amazing and definitely a “must-see” on my list when we get to Scotland and UK one of these days. Of course the lens ball images are spectacular. You sure know how to entertain us with your gorgeous images and adventures. Glad you could share with three photo challenges this week–a tremendous trifecta, and great way to start 2022!!

  6. Well Jez, you get the award for the most favourites! Your lens ball made some wonderful appearances and you know how much I love those! The one with the horses and the one with the circular bridge arches are my favourites of those. Of course I too love the highland cows which are so gorgeous with their long hair and the image of the calf nuzzle is really so sweet. Thanks so much for joining us and congrats on your new “vehicles” – they look to be just the thing!!!
