Telling The Time — #PPAC

Hi all 😃 My entry for the Photographing Public Art Challenge, hosted by Natalie the Explorer.

This piece of public art can be found in the coastal town of Kirkcaldy, on the northern shores of the Firth of Forth. It is a working sundial in the shape of an octopus.

You stand on the particular month on the octopus’s head (we were there in December)…

…& read off the time on the tentacles; it’s pretty accurate 😃 The last shot is courtesy of my wife, Susan.

  1. Jez, Thank you for your PPAC contribution. What a beautiful and practical sundial. I noticed that the months are counter clockwise. One of the buildings on University of Toronto St. George campus is named Sir Sanford Fleming.
