Fan Of… #59 — Lensball

·

Hi All 👋 Feel free to join in this weekly challenge whenever you find yourself thinking “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how to).

This week’s Fan Of… is my new lensball. In case any of you hadn’t noticed, I recently got a lensball & have set about having fun with it. My guy (Lensy) is a Tensphy 80mm K9 Crystal Ball (Amazon Associate) [click on my pic below].

Lensy came in a well padded box with his own little crystal stand, felt carrying bag, large cleaning cloth, & some very useful flash cards showing how the lensball might be used (to get you started). The rest is very much up to you to just get out there and play around. These are some shots with lensy; either me holding him or resting him on something

Too cool for school! I just went online and purchased my own, along with a book by a fellow named Lenz (you can’t make this stuff up) who offers ideas for its use! Thanks, guru Jez! 🙂

Awesome; really looking forward to seeing oyur shots my friend. I might look up the book you mentioned; I’ve just been playing round myself, seeing what works and what doesn’t

I sooo love the images you are creating with your lensball and want to thank you again for the inspiration. It seems only fitting to contribute my first ever lensball image to this week’s lovely challenge: https://whippetwisdom.com/2020/03/19/haiku-spring-equinox-3/

I so like your lensball photos. I’ve got one, too, but I am having trouble of finding proper subjects. Maybe now that I have the time … in the meantime: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2020/03/16/im-a-fan-of-lizards/

I’m just palying around at the moment to find what lends itself to lensball photography and what doesn’t. It’s a fun learning process

I can see you’re having fun with your new accessory, Jez. Not something I’ve tried but I may be tempted during the locked-in virus days that are heading our way. Here’s my fandom for the week: https://travelwithintent.com/2020/03/16/im-a-fan-of-leading-lines/

It’s fun getting to learn what sort of shots it works with and what it doesn’t. I’ve seen Bren uses it for still life, which as you say, would be perfect for locked-in days
