Snowdrops -A Bit of an Obsession with AI Artwork in my Fan Of… Series

Hi All 👋 Feel free to join this weekly challenge whenever you think, “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how-to).

This week, some snowdrops get the Hot Mods treatment.

FROM REAL PHOTOS TO COLLABORATIVE AI ARTWORK: MY EXPERIMENT WITH AI ART

I started off with a very basic picture of some snowdrops & let my inner chimp’s (Godfrey) imagination run crazy; this is the baseline picture.

My first idea was to have the snowdrops in an ornate frame but seeming to grow out of it.

So far, so good. I next tried for a more 3D effect with the frame.

As you can see, this did not work. So I tried again using different phraseology to get the desired effect, but also added in having paint running out of the corner of the frame.

This one came out as I wanted; it did, however, trigger a new thought processMy next idea was to have this as a centre-piece in a gallery, so off we go again!!!

This first attempt looks more like an over-the-top expensive house than a gallery & I also wanted the art piece as a sculpture, not a picture on a wall. I decided to play around with selective colour in the prompt as well.

Ok, cool, I like the art piece, but where are the snowdrops & the frame is meant to be balanced on one corner; more prompt re-writes.

The last one above is almost there, a sculpture of snowdrops in an ornate frame, balanced on one corner with paint running out of the frame. The paint is meant to form the plinth that the frame is balanced on. I also decided to move away from the selective colour & put the sculpture in an old gallery.

There were quite a lot of rewrites, as you can see above. Sometimes, the snowdrops went missing again, but the hardest part was getting the wording correct to get the frame balanced on one corner & the leaking paint to form the plinth. The last picture above was pretty close to what I imagined; one last go

Finally, after several hours of prompt rewrites & probably far too much coffee, it workedSnowdrops in an ornate frame, balanced on one corner with paint running out of it to form a plinth, in an old gallery

THE EVOLVING ART OF PROMPT ENGINEERING IN AI-GENERATED ARTWORK

Prompt engineering is an evolving function; for the same prompt, you will get different outputs from different photos. The prompt needs to be tweaked constantly to fit the original photo & the desired outcome. So, join me over the next few weeks as I delve further into the world of prompt engineering & artwork manipulation.

Come back next week for some more Lensy re-imaginings.
