Next up in my Historic Scotland & Fan Of… series is the National Trust for Scotland’s (NTS) Robert Burns Birthplace Museum. This is also my post for Xingfumama’s Pull Up A Seat challenge.

Having visited Rabbie Burns’ Cottage & walked along the Poet’s Path, we cross a wee footbridge…

… & arrive at the museum

Just outside the entrance is a unique wooden bench (see carousel) with inlaid coloured glass; within the glass are lines from Burns’ work.

Also outside the Museum are sculptures containing words from the Scots Language; Rabbie Burns was a strong advocate & defender of the Scots Leid & found his true voice using Scots.

The first thing we see on entering the main exhibit is a sculpture composed of Burns’ writing desk & a plough, indicating the huge effect that country life had on his works.

The museum has displays (see carousel) showing many objects from Burns’ life & influences.

Join me next week when we visit the picturesque Burns Monument & Memorial Gardens.
