Numbers Game #34– 155

·

Hi All 👋 My first post for Judy’s Number’s Game Challenge: 155.

There were a couple of pictures from last week’s challenge that weren’t very clear, so I edited them to clean them up & here they are… a sexfoil (six arc) cup & an inkwell from Arbroath Abbey.

The patterns are also called fern frost?

How unusual. What made them assume that scalloped pattern?

Hi Judy; The patterns are the result of very tiny imperfections in the glass & paintwork, such as scratches, specks of dust and salt, or the residue from washer fluid. These variations in the surface cause the ice crystals to grow in different patterns as they follow the imperfections… this type of formation is also known as fern frost
