So here we are, No 3 in the Botanic Garden Series; following on from the Buildings and Grounds and Kibble Palace Pt 1. We now go into the main area, the largest of the Palace glass houses. The main glass house is an impressive building when seen from without and within, and has an exotic array of colourful flowers and ferns.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens: Kibble Palace Pt 1
This post follows on from my last about the buildings and grounds and is about Kibble Palace and the plants contained therein. I will separate Kibble Palace into two posts: this one about the entrance area, the South Wing, and the North Wing. The next one will be about the main display hall.

Glasgow Botanic Gardens: Buildings and Grounds
Glasgow Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit, particularly if you like taking your camera for a day out. The variety of plant life within the glasshouses and outwith is fantastic. The only downside is that you can easily come away with a couple of hundred photos which are then hard to sift through. I definitely have way too many images for one blog so will share them over 2 or 3. This first blog covers the buildings and grounds themselves; the next post will go inside the Kibble Palace.

Baby Squirrel: Meet the Youngest Recruit
As our squirrel army grows, we are used to seeing them of all shapes and sizes in the garden. You can pretty much be assured of looking out of the window at any time of the day and seeing one of the fuzzy little troopers. Most of our visitors are of a reasonable size–as shown in the first 2 photos–and we sometimes think that the fence won’t be standing for that much longer

Broughty Ferry Beach
Following on from my last post about beach art, here are a few more photos from down on the beach. Although the weather was not the best, this is still a great place to be. It was quiet and peaceful but this is probably more to do with the timing of our mid-week visit and the showery weather.

Beach Art Broughty Ferry
Having been into Dundee itself, my wife and I headed along the north shore of the Tay Estuary to Broughty Ferry Beach and parked down at the Esplanade car park. Whilst walking along the beach we came across what I would call “beach art”. I don’t know if this is the proper term for these or who created these awesome pieces, but I thank them anyway for improving our day.
There will be some more photos to follow from our trip to the beach, but I thought these pieces of art warranted their own mention.

Flowers in Cumbernauld
I was heading to the shops the other day and was glad to have my phone with me and was able to capture these fantastic flowers. A lot of people think of Cumbernauld as this dull, grey, concrete town, but these photos go to show that there is colour everywhere.

Statues in Dundee
I was recently in Dundee for a day out and quickly snapped these statues; Desperate Dan and his dog (Dawg), Minnie the Minx, Oor Wullie and of course, Rabbie Burns. There are undoubtably many more, but I’ll save those for another visit, when I’ll also visit the coffee shop that shares a name with me (see last photo).

Following on from the Birdlife, and the plant life around Broadwood Loch, a final set of photos of the surrounding scenery.
