This shot is of the old Antonine Wall as it runs through what is now Falkirk. This lost wall used to be the northern frontier of what was the Roman Empire, until they were forced to pull back to the more famous Hadrian’s Wall. This section, that has the road to Callendar House cut through it, looks just like a wooded ridge, taken over again by wildlife & daffodils; we’re basically looking at a section through the ramparts.

Although we passed trhough Callendar Park at one point last year, it’s nearly 2 years since we specifically went there. The weather was good, although cold in the morning, so we made up a wee picnic and headed to Falkirk on our bikes.
As ususal we headed straight for the canal & passed this herd of sheep, still sleepy & getting ready for the day (the sheep, not us).
