Hi all π and welcome to today’s Fan Of… Solar powered desk lamp. This is actually my wife’s lamp, from Ikea, which I yoink on a pretty regular basis. I use this in conjunction with my homemade light box when I want to photograph small objects and the light is poor.
Owing to its solar charge capability and size, the lamp is totally portable. The neck is very flexible, allowing me to adjust the light angle however I want it. The best part is if it starts to run down on power, I just sit it on a window sill.

The light coming off it can be a bit harsh at times.

This is easily solved with a tissue (clean of course π). Using a simple 3 ply tissue, I can get three different light levels (3, 2, 1 sheets in the photos below). If I want a different coloured light, I just use different coloured tissue.

This lamp, with the light box, and my tripod give me a very rudimentary home studio for photography.

Have a great day π
That is a neat little lamp, especially being solar powered. I never thought of using a tissue to make different lighting effects. Thanks, Jez! π
