Hi all 😁 Feel free to join in this weekly challenge whenever you find yourself thinking “I’m a Fan of…” (see below for how to join the fun 😁).
This week’s Fan Of… is House for an Art Lover. The building was designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1901 as a competition entry for the German interior design magazine “Zeitschrift fuer Innendekoration”.
It wasn’t until 1987 that the House started to become a possibility when a Glasgow civil engineer, Graham Roxburgh, developed the idea of buidling House for an Art Lover from the competition drawings. Planning permission was granted in 1988 and the House for an Art Lover became a reality in 1996.

Very “Mackintosh” I must go and see it – didn’t know it was there!
I’ve gone architecture too this week: https://travelwithintent.com/2019/11/25/fan-of-brutalism-camden-stanard-hotel-london/
It’s well worth the visit, 😁 and Bellahouston Park is a nice setting for it; although I need to go back when the walled garden is in full bloom.
Interesting history. The house itself is stunning to look at but like many other artist’s vision of houses and rooms not necessarily comfy to live in…
I was out and about: https://picturesimperfectblog.wordpress.com/2019/11/25/im-a-fan-of-lichen/ (combined with a couple of older shots).
