New Macro Lens — Fan Of #71

Hi all 😁 Feel free to join in this weekly challenge whenever you find yourself thinking “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how to).

This week’s Fan Of… is Lenny my new macro lens. I got this boy a couple of weeks ago & have spent my time learning all about him. Lenny is a Canon EFS 35mm f/2.8 Macro lens (affiliate link).

As most of you reading this will know, macro photography is best achieved using a tripod so you are able to capture the smallest detail clearly. Lenny has a really good image stabiliser system; it uses Hybrid IS Technology which measures both angular & linear movement. This info is sent to the onboard processor which then compensates to minimise shake. This allows for a lot more free hand macro photography, getting good crisp results.

Another feature I hadn’t seen before is the built in lens light for low light shooting.

This light is can be on both sides at once, or is selectable left or right, & has 2 brightness levels.

He also has a lens cover that specifically covers the light if you aren’t using it & protects it from any knocks.

So far I have nothing but praise for Lenny. He is allowing me to get much clearer, crisper images free hand, and in lower lighting situations which would previously have required additional lighting & a tripod.

Here are a selection of images from my recent playtime, enjoy 😃

  1. These are beautiful. I should take out my camera one of these days.
    Photography is also contagious 😁😁😁
Have a wonderful and safe weekend.

    1. Thanks, Debbie 😊 Having the built in light is a massive bonus, particularly as you can get the shadows just as you want them. The only down side is that it is a very white light & can wash bright colours out a bit 🤔
