A Photo a Week Challenge: Faded

·

Hi All 👋 My entry for Nancy’s A photo a week challenge: Faded.

I agree with Nancy that a faded look can work well with flowers. I also looked at other vibrant pics I’d taken for other posts & faded them. The result seems a bit lack lustre. I’ve done all my shots as sliders so you can form your own opinions; faded or not!

These first shots are all flowers.

Faded roses
Thistle & tulips
wild flower posy
Dandelions

…and now some non floral fades.

Lensball landscape
Nested kitchen set
Coloured pens

For the floral shots, It’s hard to choose, but I think the faded look works well with wildflower posy & the dandelions. For the non floral ones, I definitely prefer the vibrant colours, but that was the reason for those shots in the first place. That being said, I do like the faded lensball landscape; to me it gives a much colder feel to the shot.

I like the flowers best too and the comparisons give the faded ones a lovely lustre

I’m not sure yet. I hate taken colour away from flowers (I usually prefer colour to monochrome with flowers) – and I think it can work with bouquets, especially if they are old fashioned and have roses in them. Hence I like your first faded shot but I much prefer the orchid in vibrant colour. And I like the effect with the lensball. The slider is a good idea, as Brian noticed!
