Hi all 😃 My latest entry for Terri’s Sunday Stills: Furs & Feathers.
On our latest ride down by the Forth & Clyde Canal, we came across a family of Swans feeding over by the far bank.
In ones & twos, they gradually came across to the near bank.

We carried on with our ride; on our return a bit later, they’d come out of the canal for a family preening session. 3 remained down in the reeds & rushes, but 2 came right up onto the path, & seemed unconcerned by the human with the camera 😂

I was able to get within a few feet of them to get these close-ups 😃
what a great photo opportunity!!
It was lucky timing 😃
So beautiful! I love swans
Thanks, Kirstin 😊
Beautiful photos! Swan is a gorgeous bird! Personally, I’ve been a swan at a gymnastics show called “White Bird”. At the end of it we formed a swan on the field.
That must have been great to see 😃
Wonderful gallery, sweetie! I love the sulky teen at the end.
😂
Wonderful photos Jez!
Thanks, Aletta 😊
Wow! Great.
Thanks, Indira 😊
Wow. They look so elegant. Stunning shots. Definitely great posers. Flaunting their feathers and beauty.
Thank you so much 😊 They’re definitely great models 😃
What a special swan series, Jez! All were beautifully captured.
Thanks you so much, Amy 😊 I was lucky to be able to capture such a great family scene 😃
They really got into the preening business. I love the picture with feathers still on the beak. Your reflection pictures are fabulous. Some of them you could crop and turn upside down and no one would know they were upside down! 🙂
Thanks, Marsha 😊 I sometimes forget myself if I’ve rotated them or not 😂
LOL When I’m working a jigsaw puzzle, reflections get dicy because they are usually just a little darker and sometimes a little wavy, but it takes your eyes a while to sort which is on top and which is reflection.
It’s even more fun if I add Lensy into the mix; I did a post a few weeks ago where it was nigh on impossible to tell which was the right way up 🤪
That could be very confusing to a puzzle worker! 🙂
Beautiful photos of the swans, Jez. I don’t think I have ever seen a Swan here on our local dams. The last time I saw them here was at World of Birds…. But it’s not the same to photograph them in captivity.
Thanks, Coreen 😊 I feel very lucky to see them down at the canal a lot 😃
How beautiful swans are, Jez and you highlight them so beautifully! I am always amazed at how the juveniles of many species of bird sport the gray, downy feathers. I really love the second to last image of the adult swan with baby just in the background!
I was lucky to be able to get so close, particularly with the young there 😃
I think that the juveniles are not far off losing the gray plumage; when one ilfted its wing, there was almost all white underneath 😃
