I see you gave Lensy a workout for this challenge. We are starting our autumn road trip in a couple of days and bringing my lensball along.

I LOVE these. I just purchased a lensball and I’m trying to figure it out. What’s your basic beginning setting? Are you always holding it yourself?

Hi & thanksI prefer to use a stand as it cuts out the movement of the lensball, but this isn’t always possible. I typically set the lens to about 40mm (seems to work for my length of arm) & because I’m shooting one handed, tend to let the camera do most of the work in landscape mode (I try for a fast shutter speed tonegate movement of ball & camera). If I’m using a stand for Lensy or have him sat on a branch etc, the distance varies with the type of shot (do I want to show a large amount of background or just the image in the lensball). Again the aperture changes with the type of shot, do I want the background to be in focus or more blurred & so draw the eye more to the image in the lensball. I’m still learning & experimenting with what does & doesn’t work
