History in Miniature — Lens-Artists Challenge #214

Hi All 👋 My entry for this week’s challenge, set by Ann-Christine: Favourite Finds. This is also my entry for CFFC: Man-made items.

I’ve always enjoyed learning about history, with a great side bonus of seeing miniature models of old buildings & old technology.

First off is a model of Arbroath Abbey in the visitors centre.

The next are models of ships that worked on the Forth & Forth & CLyde Canal.

The Signal Tower Museum in Arbroath hosts exhibits show casing seafaring life in the are over the years.

The next models are some building mock-ups by world renowned architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh; they can be found in the Lighthouse in Glasgow.

Moving away from history, but staying small; I have a particular fondness of Lilliput Lane miniatures. These two, I found in a local charity shop. Daisy cottage has been featured before in some posts.

Having some fun in the garden with an AT-AT…

…and finally, this wee guy. This is Godfrey, he’s the physical manifestation of my inner chimp. When my wife was doing psychology research for her book writing, she came across a book called The Chimp Paradox. This explains that everyone has an inner chimp that is responsible for the emotional part of the brain; when you see someone losing it or delighting in things, that’s their chimp. I saw Godfrey & his girlfriend Nee-Nee for sale & thought that they would be fun to have around; they go everywhere with us.
