Our Wee Smart Car — Fan Of… #204

·

Hi All 👋 Feel free to join in this weekly challenge whenever you find yourself thinking, “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how-to).

This week’s Fan Of… is our wee Smart Car, Grogu.

Grogu

We’ve been without a car for pretty much 12 years now & been happy with our choice. Through the use of our trolleys & our e-bikes & trailer, we’ve been able to manage shopping & travel quite happily. Recently though, the cost of hiring a car to do longer journeys has more than doubled, adding a substantial cost to any holidays. We have also pretty much visited all the places that are within a feasible day’s cycle once you take photo stops & breaks into account.

Taking into account all the points above, we decided to get a used car. My Mum & Dad have had a Smart Car for the last 8 years & have always been very positive about the car & its practicality (thanks for the advice & info, Mum); so a Smart Car was the way to go for us, as there are only the two of us, & the shopping still gets done using the bike & trailer set up (the boot space in Grogu is actually bigger than in the Suzuki Jimny we had many years ago).

In this next pic, you can see that Grogu is only 0.6m longer than Stormy

We also wanted a car that had minimal impact on the environment & our pockets. This wee guy is only 2.7m long & 1.6m wide. He has a frugal 800cc diesel engine that gets about 80 miles to the gallon & very low emissions & therefore, zero road tax. The engine in such a small car is very gutsy & makes him very comfortable to drive on motorways as well as in city environs. Another plus is that as Scottish cities go greener, only low emission vehicles will be allowed in city centres, which we’ll be able to do.

So far, we’ve had 3 trips out in Grogu to the Ayrshire Coast, visiting places that were beyond a day’s ride & been able to add more photos to my library. Here are some more shots of the wee guy.

Cool! I’ve always quite fancied one of them (drive a Cleo at the moment). I bet finding a parking space is a doddle as well!

Thats great Jez. Now you’ll have to change you bio to add the wee car. Is Grogu the manufacturers name or the one you gave it?

Good point about the bio; hadn’t thought of thatHe’s called Grogu after the character in The Mandalorian because he’s wee & cute & makes us smile

Yes, the wee autos are breeding very well. There are quite a collection here. They are Urban and Suburban babies, here because distances beyond the cities are too primitive.
There is one I quite like is almost a perfect square, just like a box on wheels. They are so pretty, painting. Enjoy
