Hi All 👋 Feel free to join this weekly challenge whenever you think, “I’m a fan of…” (see below for how-to).
The inspiration — Exploring the World of AI-Generated Artwork: My Journey in the ‘Fan Of…’ Challenge
My wife, Susan, recently used a function within the paid version of ChatGPT called Hot Mods (to help mock up cover designs for the book she’s currently working on) to enhance one of her pictures of the Kelpies.
To learn more about ChatGPT & the use of AI as a writing assistant, have a read of this awesome post by Susan: Revolutionising Writing with AI: My Journey Begins. In her post she describes how AI has allowed her to work whilst suffering from CRPS, & how she has engineered ChatGPT to work as her assistant.
Below is her original shot & the subsequent re-imagining based on her prompts.
From Real Photos to COllaborative AI Artwork: My Experiment with AI Art
This week’s Fan Of… #232 is AI-assisted artwork. The output from Hot Mods intrigued me & has led to me starting to experiment with this tool myself. My next series of Fan Of… posts will feature more of this unique artwork, based on my own photos, as I learn prompt engineering & how to manipulate the bot. These are my first attempts.
Arbroath Abbey Ruins
The ruins have formed the basis of a mystical & eerie picture.
Callendar House
Again here, I’ve gone for a mystical & eerie re-imagining of the original.
Kibble Palace
For this one I went for a steampunk enhancement.
Clackmannanshire Bridge & Lensy
For this shot, I went for a mystical enhancement with the addition of a mythical beast. Prompt engineering is an evolving skill… and you don’t always get the result you asked for. The first rendering removed Lensy from the picture entirely, so I adjusted the prompt to keep him in the new picture.
The Evolving Art of Prompt Engineering in AI-Generated Artwork
As I said above, prompt engineering is an evolving function. For the same prompt, you will get different outputs from different photos. The prompt needs to be adjusted constantly to fit the original photo & the desired outcome. So, join me over the next few weeks as I delve further into the world of prompt engineering & artwork manipulation.
Come back next week where I will go further into my reasons for embarking on artistic creativity with AI. I’ll be concentrating on a project involving The Tall Ship (the Glenlee) & some re-imaginings of this elegant vessel. Here’s a sneak peak
