Sunflower Splendour: FOTD Dec 15 with Post-Apocalyptic AI Artistry

Hi All 👋 My latest post for Cee’s FOTD.

I am delving into my archives for warm, sunny shots during these frosty days.

My FOTD posts for the next few days will be bright & cheerful sunflowers

Any of you following my blog, will know I’m currently working on a project fusing my own photography with AI creativity. For more on my journey with AI, check out my Fan Of… series: https://jezbraithwaite.blog/2023/12/11/from-photos-to-fantasies-exploring-ai-art-manipulation-in-my-fan-of-series/

I thought I’d do a bit of creative artwork with the image above. I’ve a trio of re-imagined shots today. I decided to have the sunflower in a post-apocalyptic setting for today. The first image has the sunflower lit by a sunbeam, growing out of a crack in a highway running through a post-apocalyptic cityscape. I added in cars littering the highway as if a mass-exodus had taken place.

I wanted the cityscape to be more futuristic, & the sunflower more of a feature in the picture. When I re-engineered the prompt, I told it to make the sunflower larger; this was the result: Mutant Sunflower

Although not what I intended, I do like the idea of a giant mutant sunflower; who knows what calamity befell the city & led to this giant flower. I also like the futuristic cityscape in this one.

To get the desired effect, I re-engineered the prompt again to make the sunflower more of a feature (not larger — it’s all about learning the AI’s language), and this was the result. I’m happy with how it came out; the sunflower stands tall & proud & the skies are clearing & becoming more blue again, perhaps a symbol of hope & recovery

  1. […] Having learnt from previous prompting sessions, I changed my language and focus. Hint for AI users: AI can get very confused when you tell it what to focus on more than once in a chat. You can see a brilliant example of what happens on Jez’s blog with his mutant sunflower. […]

These are … disturbing. Are you ok?

Although not what you intended, I actually like the middle one best. Perhaps it’s me who is disturbed!!
