Hamilton Mausoleum — Cellpic Sunday

·

,

Hi All 👋 This is my latest post for John’s Cellpic Sunday.

This huge mausoleum was built in the mid-1800s for Alexander, 10th Duke of Hamilton, but was unfinished at the time of his death in 1852. Owing to the size of the structure & its dome (120ft high), it has a 15-second echo… one of the longest in the world

Love the blue sky behind that impressive structure.

Impressive looking! Since it wasn’t finished, do you know what it was used for or if they finished it?
