This week’s prompt is for a high-speed chase through a bustling city; my baseline image for this week’s challenge is a busy Glasgow Street.
Glasgow Street
My first idea was for a high-speed chase involving two high-powered motorcycles.

I was really happy with this outcome from the prompt & thought “job done”. But no… Godfrey (my inner chimp) decided it would be interesting to try a vintage scene.

Again, I was very happy with the outcome, but why stop there… futuristic world, here we come
I know that no explanation is required, but I thought this shot would benefit from one. The other morning, I noticed that the moon was reflecting the colours of the dawn, turning it an orangey sort of colour. There was no time to set up properly, so this was shot freehand at the full extent of Snappy’s 18-300mm zoom lens
As I’m working a lot with AI at the moment, I thought I’d add my latest piece of Hot Mods generated artwork as a bonus. I used the moonshot above as the baseline for the following picture.

Finally, it’s here, more AI-assisted re-imaginings of an old steam train. This week’s Fan Of… #236 is AI-assisted artwork featuring the Bo’ness Steam Locomotive. This old steam locomotive runs a short tourist route out of Bo’ness Station to Kinneil on the southern shores of the Firth of Forth. Bo’ness Station is also home to the Museum of Scottish Railways.

Probably, most of you are wondering why AI; it all comes down to the time of year. Here in Scotland, daylight hours in winter are pretty much between 0900 & 1500 & unless you get one of those bright, clear days. The weather can best be described as dreich (those grey, miserable, wet days) where the light is not so great. Don’t get me wrong, If there’s something worth photographing, I’ll happily be out in the worst of weather?
I also work in retail; this sees an increase in work hours & very little chance to get out with Snappy. The end result is that I can feel my creativity start to wane; not being able to get out with my camera certainly puts a dampener on the creative spirit — & so over to AI & Hot Mods.

This form of AI artwork allows me to use my own photography as a basis for AI prompt engineering. In all my Fan Of… posts about AI creativity, I’ll show the original image & then the various outputs from Hot Mods as I work with the AI to create new artwork.
As you’ll see from these posts, the expected output is not always what I wanted (I’ll share these as well), so I’m back to rewriting the prompt.

Hi All ๐ Feel free to join this weekly challenge whenever you think, “I’m a fan ofโฆ” (see below for how-to).
Firstly, I would like to apologise for not being able to interact with your posts this weekMy two-day, sixteen-hour work schedule unexpectedly turned into a five-day, 40+ hour marathonI hope to catch up with all your posts this week
I know this week was meant to be more re-imaginings of the Bo’ness & Kinneil Steam Locomotive, but I went a different route

One of my thoughts was to have the clandestine meeting down at the docks; this is the original image I shot & used as the basis of my prompt engineering.

This week’s challenge is to develop an AI image of a secret exchange at a masquerade ball.
This is a new one for me; previously, all my AI work was based on one of my own photos. This time, I didn’t have a picture that worked as a basis for the prompt, so the prompt was written from scratch.
I first imagined a grand & elegant ballroom with people in period costumes. The first result was not busy enough for my liking, so I revisited the prompt to add in more couples dancing.
I decided then to go futuristic & have the ball set in a futuristic ballroom in a space hotel. Again, the first result was not crowded enough, so I revised the prompt. The last image is the 8th revision & I’m still not 100% happy with the end result in the space hotel, but my stomach’s grumbling & it’s time for lunch. I’m sure I’ll come back to this prompt again, another time.

Last week was the Glenlee; this week, I’m working on the old Steam Locomotive that runs out of Bo’ness Station.

These are the two base images used for the prompt. The first is a street in Glasgow, the second in Edinburgh. Both have an older architecture that carries well through the prompt engineering & gives the right look for a foggy alley. The Glasgow road had to be narrowed considerably in the prompt to get the right look.
These are the three images I’m posting for the challenge. I’ve gone for three different looks; the first is quite standard. For the second & third, I was working on a series of images that involved a meeting of different time periods — see more results in a future Fan Of… post; there’ll also be mystical portals worked into the prompt. The last, I went full on futuristic
