Hi All 👋 and welcome to today’s Fan Of… Pollock Country Park.

Pollock Country Park is located in Pollock, Glasgow, south of the River Clyde and covers approx 361 acres. Like a lot of Glasgow attractions, Pollock Country Park has awards to its name. In 2007, Pollok County Park was named Britain’s Best park and in 2008 was named the Best in Europe. The park is a mixture of woodland and open grassland, with Highland Cattle and Deer in residence. Amongst the trees there are many pathways and ponds, and an ancient castle site.

The park was part of the Old Pollock Estate, which was home to the Maxwell family for over seven centuries. The Estate, including the park and Pollock House, was gifted to the Glasgow Corporation in 1966 by Mrs Anne Maxwell Macdonald; this was on the understanding that it remained a public park.

The park contains the Burrell Collection, which is an eclectic antique and art collection housed in a purpose built building. For a glimpse inside the Burrell Collection, visit again tomorrow for Fan Of… The Burrell Collection.
