Orchids — Lens-Artists Challenge #221 & FOTD

Hi all πŸ˜ƒ My entry for this week’s challenge, set by Ann-Christine: Flower Favourites & Why; this is also my post for Cee’s FOTD.

I have many favourites in the flower world, but I thought I’d concentrate on perhaps the most bizarre looking; the orchid. I think the appeal of orchids is the fact that some look decidedly otherwordly or from a different time period.

They also come in a huge variety of shapes, colours & sizes, as you can see from the gallery below. Apart from the last 3 pics, these were all shot in the tropical glasshouse at the Glasgow Botanic Gardens; the last 3 were my own orchid πŸ˜ƒ

  1. A beautiful gallery and a great explanation, Jez! I love orchids and yes, the are otherworldly…these are amazing all of them. I could spot my favourites too…Cattleyas or Cattleya hybrids.

Great to hear your thoughts πŸ˜ƒ
