Simple Colouring — Lens-Artists Challenge #265

Hi all πŸ˜ƒ My entry for this week’s challenge, set by Anne of Slow Shutter Speed.

I edited this shot of Old Edinburgh in black & white to bring out the silhouettes of the buildings more. The original shot is fine in itself, but the black & white edit makes it more interesting & draws the eye to the skyline.

Old Edinburgh

I often think that older subjects benefit from black & white editing. This gallery of shots was all taken at the Museum of Scottish Railways at Bo’ness. The black & white format highlights the textures of the old materials.

My next shots are all monochromatic; the first is a large area of sticky willy.

These last two shots are actually in colour, but the lighting conditions have rendered them monochromatic.

  1. Imagining myself wading through that sticky willie and coming out looking like a bedraggled sea monster covered in green seaweed! πŸ™‚

  2. Candy for the eyes, Jez . The B& W from the RR yard certainly heights the textures as you mentioned. I particularly liked your creative captures of the nail, basketball, and Croc. Well done.

Great to hear your thoughts πŸ˜ƒ
