Symmetry — Lens-Artists Challenge

·

Hi All 👋 My entry for this week’s fantastic challenge, set by Sofia of Photographias: Symmetry.

This first one came about from me messing around with a spherical prism, looking at the refraction patterns.

Refraction from a spherical prism.

These next shots are all reflections in Fannyside Loch at sunrise. I suppose they’re not correctly symmetrical, as the reflections are marred by a thin layer of mist. Lensy adds another layer of symmetry as well.

As Sofia points out, symmetry is plentiful in nature as well.

We can find lots of symmetry in architecture.

When I think of symmetry, I think of Scottish designer & architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh.

To finish off, a few random symmetrical images I found in my archives.

Perfect entry – lensy of course, but every example shines. The chessboard a great choice.

What a wonderful post, Jez, with so many perfect photos for the challenge. The one that really caught my eye was the unusual angle of the Kibble. You made something so familiar to me look so new and different. Thank you.

Thank you so much, SofiaI think with that one, I used a wide-angle attachment to get the effect

Clearly you have some fine photos for the challenge. The white flower got me fooled. I thought it was a butterfly. How beautiful it is! Do I have to pick a favorite? I’d have to go with the empty chessboard. Fantastic depth of field!

WOW, Jez! I could look at these images over and over again. Yes nature offers a feast for the eyes, but I loved that Lensy joined you for the challenge. Loved those images. And your images will offer lots of inspiration for others. The dice and measuring cups/bowls, creative! So awesome!!!!
