It’s my wife’s birthdaycoming up & I’m on hoilday for the next couple of weeks; Fan Of… will be back on the 20th September. Until then, stary safe & happy blogging

Whilst up at Palacerigg Country Park to get some shots of Snappy’s modified camera bag, featured in last week’s Fan Of… #124, one of the female mallards at the pond decided to come over & see what was happening.

This week’s Fan Of… is modifying Snappy’s camera bag to fit the Klickfix adapter on my bike. Since we got our Kalkhoff e-bikes, we’ve used them for all manner of purposes; short, local runs, including shopping & runs further afield to explore new places & get plenty of photos for mine & other challenges. From the outset we decided on a handlebar system by Klickfix to carry front baskets for our essentials; for me that’s Snappy with his 18-300mm zoom fitted, amongst other things.
I’d looked extensively at all manner of bags & baskets & settled on one that would comfortably hold him, his spare lens etc. The basket I got had a zippable lid & raincover, the inside also had bottle loops that were ideal for securing lenses. The only downside was that Snappy had to sit on his body with the lens pointing up. This meant that I had to lift him out by the lens which I was not a fan of.
I looked far & wide for a bag specifically for a DSLR, but drew a blank. This led to me modifying my existing shoulder case with a Klickfix mounting plate to fit the adapter

This week’s Fan Of… is the camera on my new iPhone. My wife’s & my iPhone SEs were over 5 years old & the update support for them was soon to stop. With that in mind, we traded our old phones in, as well as some other tech we no longer used & got a couple of (almost) new iPhone SEs (second gen). The main feature I was looking forward to trying out was the camera; there have been quite significant advances in phone camera technology over the last 5 years, & I was not disappointed. Here are just some of the shots I’ve taken with my new phone.

This week’s Fan Of… is rescued a weary bee.
Whilst out in the garden collecting in the washing, my wife & I noticed a bee on the ground barely moving. We had read about people giving bees a mixture of sugar & water to perk them up, so I decided to give it a go. I made a small amount of sugary water & poured it onto the ground right next to the bee.

This week’s Fan Of… is Cee’s Flower Of The Day (FOTD) challenge. This became my first regular challenge when I started blogging. Thanks to Cee’s challenge, I make the effort to get out more regularly with my camera, Snappy, & I have learned a lot about various plants, through my own discoveries, as well as Cee’s posts & all the others that post to her fantastic challenge.
I now go on regular flower walks to top up my flowers for the challenge, as well as for the lean winter months. Often during the winter, I buy bouquets of flowers that I can either capture in my mini home studio or in my garden.

This week’s Fan Of… Tower Houses. The two featured today are the Clackmannan Tower & the Alloa Tower. In brief, Tower Houses are easily defensible dwellings built by the nobles as either part of a wider defensive plan, or as a home away from home.

This week’s Fan Of… is Squares, more precisely, Becky’s 3 monthly Square Challenge. It is Run by Becky from The Life Of B (Hi Becky) for those who don’t know about this awesome challenge. Every 3 months (Jan, April, July & Oct), Becky comes up with a theme for a month of squares. Although there is a theme running through the month (this month is Trees), the rules are kinda flexibleapart from one — at least one of the pictures MUST BE SQUARE in format. Other than that, at Becky’s request, have fun& get creative with your submissions

This week’s Fan Of… is Water Lilies. I’ve always enjoyed seeing other peoples shots of Water Lilies but never had any to share myself. That is, until now, when the ones down at the Forth & Clyde Canal started to bloom.
