Hi all 😃 My entry for this week’s challenge, set by Anne of Slow Shutter Speed: Wildlife Close to Home.

We have quite a lot of skwurrels (Scots for squirrels) living nearby that visit the garden regularly; they even come right up to the door (see last pic) 😂

There’s even a family of wee mice living at the bottom of the garden.
I often see deer in the neighbourhood or down by the canal; occasionally I have my camera with me.
Moving on to our feathered friends; there’s always gulls to be found standing on posts.
Having the canal nearby & plenty of wee lochs about means there are a lot of waterfowl…

…& the odd appearance of cormorants.

We mustn’t forget the more common visitors to the garden.

You have such wonderful neighbours, Jez! And well documented they are – how did you manage the tiny mice? They are absolutely cute overload!
Thanks, Leya 😊 I was moving very, very slowly & everytime they paid attention to me I went still 😃
hahaha, the skwurrels look quite personable in your next of the woods. Or you have good snacks. I also love the warty red face of the Muscovy duck. Those intrigue me. Nice collection.
Thank you so much 😊 We’ve woods very near by & they do get good snacks here as well 😃
This is a charming post. I’m afraid that if I had a shot of field mice, it would be taken from inside our kitchen. They invite themselves in far too often.
😂😂 Ours know to stay in the garden!
Ours … just don’t.
Wonderful collection, Jez. I can see you spend time capturing the neighborhood wildlife. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, John 😊 The neighbours must wander what I’m up to all the time 😂
Quite an inventory! Wonderful photos of the mice. Could not have been easy
They were so busy eating, I was able to move up on them very slowly; I also had my 18-300mm zoom on, which was handy 😂
These photos are so good. All of them have interesting animals or birds. Thanks for sharing them Jez. The squirrels are so entertaining. Their expressions are really something. They all have attitude I think.
Thank you so much, Anne 😊 I can spend all day watching the skwurrels!
Sorry Jez, too much cute for one post…..brilliant 🙂
Thanks, Brian 😊
It just goes to show what you can discover if you go through the world with open eyes. And in your case – capture it.
Thanks, Elke 😊 People constantly on their phones & rushing around miss so much 😩
I so adore your first photo of the deer laying down. What great galleries you have for this week 😀 😀
Thanbk you so much, Cee 😊
Okay Jez, you win the prize. What a great selection of wildlife you’ve shown us, and all so close to you. Does that cute skwurrel (it is Scottish) a regular visitor. My mother-in-law had a squirrel come to her front door for its morning peanut. Great post!
The skwurrels are around every day; the bolder ones will take nuts from our hands 😃
Wow. Great series. Love the banner shot. My fave: ‘Wee, sleeket, cowran, tim’rous beastie’.
The little ducklings are adorable Jez – and your squirrels (however you choose to spell them!) are great. The last one apparently plans to move in with you!
Thanks, Tina 😊 You can see where he’d pushed the fly screen in a bit 😂
Quite a selection you’ve got there! Love the squirrels 😀..
Thnk you so much; they are my favourites 😃
